Rep. Larry Haler, R-Richland, has been selected to attend the National Conference of State Legislatures Symposium for Emerging Leaders. The conference is in September in North Carolina.
Haler represents the state's 8th Legislative District, which covers Richland, West Richland and most of Kennewick.
Haler earned bipartisan nominations from House Speaker Frank Chopp, D-Seattle, and House Minority Leader Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis, to attend the symposium.
The conference features former Naval officers and Navy SEALs speaking about leadership, integrity and accountability, as well as lessons learned in the Navy.
Never miss a local story.
Other workshops will cover changing demographics, effective leadership and improving communication and public speaking.
