A Pasco man riding a motorcycle died in a wreck Saturday afternoon that also involved two pickups west of Touchet on Highway 12 near Byrnes Road and Nine Mile Canyon Road.
Galen Hieb, 60, of Pasco was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle east when high winds pushed him into the westbound lanes as he drove around a curve at 1:26 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.
Hieb sideswiped a westbound Honda Ridgeline pickup driven by Roberto Hernandez, 73, of Burbank, according to the police report. The collision knocked Hieb off of his motorcycle, and he was hit by a westbound Ford pickup driven by Harry Schmidt, 66, of Benton City, according to the police report.
The drivers of the pickups were not injured, but Hieb died at the scene, according to the police report. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Highway 12 was closed after the wreck, with the roadway opened in both directions about 5 p.m.
