Mariah Evans and Kiabett Contreras are the recipients of the Faurot Family Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students in the Kennewick School District with a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher and strong financial need.

-- Three Columbia Basin College students were honored for their work in designing Ben Franklin Transit's June 2012 schedule book cover.
Debra Flanders, Juny Soukhavong and Mike Bryant were awarded the college's Celebrating Excellence Award and were presented with a plaque from the transit.
-- Five Kiona-Benton City High School students won for their entries in "Postcards from the Reach" student photography contest. They were: Alexis Merrick, Meghan Osborn, Karli Henderson, Nick Carter and Maria Blair.

Pasco and Kennewick donated 27,201 pounds, West Richland donated 4,184 pounds and Richland donated 1,583 pounds.
-- Sean Clausen of Pasco has been awarded a dean's scholarship of $1,500 for the 2012-13 academic year at Eastern Washington University. This award is given to incoming freshmen with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.79 and a SAT score of at least 1000.
Sean graduated from Kamiakin High School this spring, where he was the football team captain, finished in sixth place at DECA Nationals and received the Judge's Choice Award at ESD 123 District Art Show.
He will attend EWU as a freshman this fall.
Sean is the son of Kathleen Clausen of Pasco.
-- Joseph Hunt of Kennewick has been awarded a dean's scholarship for $1,500 for the 2012-13 academic year at Eastern Washington University. This award is given to incoming freshmen with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.79 and an SAT score of at least 1000.
Joseph graduated from Kamiakin High School this spring, where he was a member of the varsity football team and is the first-team all-state defensive end. He also was a member of the varsity basketball team and junior varsity baseball team and was involved in Link Crew and Buddy Club.
He will attend EWU as a freshman this fall and become a member of the football team.
Joseph is the son of Gerald and Diane Hunt of Kennewick.
-- Tamar Oostrom of Richland has been awarded the 2012 Johnson Opportunity Grant.
Oostrom will spend the summer providing medical care to people in a remote area of the Himalayan region.
The grant will cover living, travel and other costs.
Oostrom attends Washington and Lee University where she is majoring in biochemistry and mathematics.
-- Madison Belmont of Three Rivers Homelink in Richland has been awarded a 2012 Washington Association for Learning Alternatives scholarship for $1,000.
-- Mary Alice Herrera of Grandview received the Harry Christian Cook and Blanche McLane Cook art scholarship.
The $2,500 scholarship will be used to pay for Herrera's tuition, books and art supplies.
