YAKIMA -- Retired New York Yankee Mel Stottlemyre is scheduled to speak Yakima Valley Community College's commencement ceremony.
Stottlemyre played for the Yankees from 1964-74 and appeared in five all-star games as a pitcher.
He also was a pitching coach for five World Series champions.
In 1982, he started a summer baseball school in the Yakima Valley.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Parker Field on the college campus, South 16 Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard, Yakima.
