A Kennewick man who was "unintentionally" shot in the back by his roommate remains in serious condition at a Seattle hospital.
Bradley Wayne Slater, 22, has been in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center since May 15.
Kennewick police were called to his home at 323 E. Third Ave. after his roommate, Karl Allan Johnson, reported that he had shot Slater with a .45-caliber pistol.
Johnson apparently was attempting to break down the gun without removing the magazine. He pulled the trigger as the pistol was pointed at Slater, who was on a bed in the basement, police said.
Slater, who said he could not feel or move his legs, was flown to Harborview after undergoing emergency surgery at Kennewick General Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation, but police said the shooting appeared to be unintentional.
