SUNNYSIDE -- Sunnyside High School was evacuated Monday "due to a possible threat" at the school, the district website said.
All students and staff were evacuated from the building and moved to Harrison Middle School, the Herald was told.
No details on the threat were released by police Monday.
A Sunnyside police alert at 12:45 p.m. indicated that Sunnyside Christian schools had been locked down earlier, but the lockdown was lifted. It said police were involved in "police activity" at Sunnyside High School and the school was locked down.
At some point the decision apparently was made to move students and staff out of the high school building because a notice on the district's website at 1:30 p.m. said the school had been evacuated.
Students were released from school at the normal3 p.m. dismissal time. A second Sunnyside police alert at 3:25 p.m. said the school was no longer locked down.
Sunnyside High School is at 1801 E. Edison Ave. The middle school is about a half-mile away on the other side of the high school's sports fields.
