A motorist died in a head-on crash early Saturday while driving on the wrong side of Interstate 82, four miles north of the Oregon border.
A Washington State Patrol report did not release the driver's name, gender, age or hometown until troopers can notify relatives of the death.
The crash occurred at 2:36 a.m. when the driver of a 1988 Dodge Colt was traveling east in the highway's westbound lanes, the report said. The Dodge collided with a 2007 Chevrolet truck driven by Alejandro V. Valdez, 43, of Kennewick.
Valdez reportedly was taken to Kennewick General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt in the crash, the State Patrol said.
Troopers say they suspect that drugs or alcohol may have been involved.
