Motorists traveling near Burbank need to be prepared for part of highways 12 and 124 to be temporarily closed.
Highway 124 from the intersection with Highway 12 to Lake Road closed will remain closed this weekend. It reopens at 5:30 a.m. Monday.
The closure is because of the continuing construction work to build a new interchange at the highways to reduce the risk of collisions, the Washington Department of Transportation said.
Drivers heading from westbound Highway 124 to westbound Highway 12 will have to follow detour signs on Lake Road in Burbank Heights and connect to Highway 12 at the Humorist Road intersection.
Drivers going east on Highway 124 from the Port of Walla Walla and Burbank will follow detour signs onto Jantz Road to cross Highway 12 at the Humorist Road intersection, then turn left onto Lake Road to connect back to Highway 124.
Highway 12 will remain open.
On Monday, construction crews will reopen the intersection, except for the new ramp from westbound Highway 124 to westbound 12.
The new ramp will stay closed until 5:30 a.m. May 21.
