Tri-Tech Center to show Palestine film for free
Never miss a local story.
Occupation 101, an award-winning documentary film about the Israeli occupation of Palestine, will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Tri-Tech Skills Center, at the corner of Kellogg and Metaline streets in Kennewick.
The film provides a historic look at the Israeli-Palestinian debate from the 1880s to the present in hopes of dispelling misconceptions, said Sabiha Khan, a history teacher at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick.
"It shows the reality of Palestinian life under Israeli military rule, details the role of the United States in the conflict and presents the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace," she said.
The 90-minute film, which has won numerous international awards, will be followed by a panel discussion.
The event, which is sponsored by World Citizens for Peace, is free and open to all ages.
