The Army Corps of Engineers is asking for memories and historic photos of the construction of Ice Harbor Dam as the dam approaches its 50th anniversary.
The half-century mark for the dam will be celebrated June 16, with times and details still to be planned.
Now, it's asking Corps retirees, area residents, construction workers and construction companies who worked on the dam from 1957-62 to help it collect information for written materials, historic displays and scrapbooks to mark the anniversary.
Photos and information are needed by May 1, and credit will be given to photographers and writers. They will be asked to sign a photo release form.
Never miss a local story.
Electronic copies of photos are preferred with any information available about photo contents, names of people in the photo and the date. Scanned photos and written memories can be sent to Lanell.L.Adams@usace.army.mil.
To arrange to mail CDs of photos or memories or if photos cannot be sent electronically, call 509-543-6060.
