Favorite bands from the '70s and '80s will rock the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo this summer in the form of Foghat and REO Speedwagon.
REO Speedwagon opens the fair on Aug. 21, followed by Hinder on Aug. 22, Big & Rich on Aug. 23, Foghat on Aug. 24 and Jerrod Niemann wrapping up the week on Aug. 25.
"This is the most diverse musical line-up we've ever had at the fair," said fair manager Lori Lancaster. "With Hinder, we've got a rock band that will appeal to a younger audience, which is something new for the fair.
"We round out the line-up with two different types of classic rock acts -- REO Speedwagon and Foghat. A hot young country singer named Jerrod Niemann and a major country show with Big & Rich."
Never miss a local story.
Foghat launched in the early '70s and enjoyed several bestselling albums throughout the decade for its blues-rock style. Its biggest hits included Slow Ride and Fool for the City.
Along with Journey and Styx, REO Speedwagon was one of the hottest bands of the early '80s with such hits as Keep on Loving You and Can't Fight this Feeling.
Hinder is an Oklahoma-based rock band that started in 2001 and was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007. Its biggest hits to date have been Lips of an Angel and Better than Me.
Big & Rich is the duo of "Big" Kenny Alphin and former Lonestar lead singer John Rich. Their best-known song to date is Save A Horse (Ride a Cowboy).
Niemann, who has written songs for Garth Brooks, came into his own a decade ago after moving to Nashville. He's best known for One More Drinkin' Song and Lover, Lover.
Reserve tickets to the fair will be for sale from 8 a.m. to noon April 28 at the fairgrounds office, on 10th Avenue in Kennewick. Online sales begin 30 minutes later.
Main stage entertainment comes with admission to the fair, but reserved seats for those concerts will be an additional $15. Concerts start at 7:30 p.m. each day.
The fair also features Xtreme Bulls along with the rodeo and demolition derby. Advanced tickets for carnival wrist bands also go on sale April 28. Cost is $20.
General admission to the fair is $10 adults and $5 for youths.
