Two middle school students from Richland were questioned by police Thursday afternoon for allegedly bringing an air pistol to Chief Joseph Middle School.
Richland police were called to the school after several students said they saw an 11-year-old boy with the air pistol near the school's main entrance. School already was over, so it was not locked down.
Police also worried the 11-year-old might be headed to a 12-year-old's home to threaten him so they checked out that home and the suspect's house.
They found the 11-year-old at home and had to use a loudspeaker to get the boy to come outside. Police found the plastic air pistol in bushes. Police said the air pistol was brought to school by the 12-year-old so he could sell it to another student, and he stashed it in some bushes outside the school, police reported.
Never miss a local story.
The 11-year-old saw him hide the gun then took it, showing it off to other students and pointing it at a male student. The two boys were questioned by police then released to their parents.
Richland police and the Richland School District are continuing their investigation.
