Seven Pasco families are getting help from the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross after their homes were damaged Sunday in a fire.
Now officials are hoping the community will step up and help the Red Cross, so they can help other families.
The blaze at the Stonegate Apartment complex damaged five units, where 11 adults and 12 children, including two infants, were living.
Volunteers mobilized Sunday to help the family, including setting up temporary housing and providing money to buy food, clothing and other necessities.
So far, the Red Cross has provided $3,300 to help the families.
Since July, the agency has spent $44,314 providing emergency services to other Tri-Citians burned out of their homes, said Rachel Heglar, fund development director. Their annual disaster relief budget is $35,000.
