The third annual "Run For Ribbons" on Saturday raised about $45,000 for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, organizers said.
"It was an amazing morning," said Diane Turney, cancer center spokeswoman.
More than 1,000 people participated in the event in Richland's Howard Amon Park, which included a 5K run/1-mile walk and a health fair with information booths and cancer resources.
Turney said the participation had risen from 600 people in 2011 and 300 in 2010, the first year for the event.
Never miss a local story.
The money raised goes toward services for cancer patients at the cancer center that typically are not covered by insurance, such as support groups, classes, wigs and prosthetics.
"It all stays local," Turney said.
