A Prosser man was killed Wednesday morning when his car crashed into a cattle truck near Paterson, the Washington State Patrol said.
Ivan Pacheco, 22, was driving south on Highway 221, when he lost control of his 1991 Honda Civic and spun into the northbound lanes, troopers said.
Pacheco's car then was hit by a cattle truck driven by Dewey Hancock, 25, of Vale, Ore. Hancock was not hurt in the wreck, which happened just before 6 a.m.
One cow was killed in the crash and a second one that was hurt had to be put down, Sgt. Debbie Wilson told the Herald.
Never miss a local story.
The roads in the area weren't icy, Wilson said, but there was frost on the shoulders, so there may have been some slick areas.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
