The Washington State Department of Ecology will be hiring 118 teens to clean up roadsides, parks and recreation areas in Eastern Washington this summer.
Teens ages 14 to 17 may apply to become members of the Ecology Youth Corps for a four-week session in Pasco, Othello, Walla Walla or Moses Lake. They will be paid $9.04 an hour.
Money for the program comes from a voter-approved tax on items related to the litter problem. Because of the downturn in the economy, about 100 fewer teens than usual can be hired this year.
Applications are available at ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/eyc/. Deadline to apply is April 2.
