Last year was good for Tri-City tourism.
Kris Watkins, president and CEO for the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau, told the Kennewick City Council on Tuesday that Kennewick's hotel-motel tax distributions for 2011 at $418,000 were more than 9 percent above 2010's total of $381,000.
The totals for Kennewick, Pasco and Richland were just over $1 million last year, she said.
The three cities also saw better than 9 percent improvement on booking conventions and sports events. There were 196 of them last year, accounting for an estimated $36.6 million in visitor spending, Watkins said in her annual report to the city.
Never miss a local story.
The visitor's bureau also reported having 11,000 Facebook fans, 13,500 video views and 160,000 website visitors in 2011, Watkins said.
