KENNEWICK -- An 18-year-old man is accused of driving three times the speed limit when his car rolled on a turn on Highway 221, injuring his passenger.
Salomon Martinez pleaded innocent Thursday in Benton County Superior Court to one count of vehicular assault. A trial is scheduled for April 2.
His lawyer told the court her client's last name is spelled Martines, but Deputy Prosecutor Megan Killgore said it is spelled two different ways in official documents and the Administrative Office of Courts has set it up as Martinez.
According to court documents, the teen was speeding on Highway 221, between Prosser and Paterson, on Sept. 23.

The posted speed limit on the highway is 55 mph.
Martinez reportedly was doing 91 mph when he approached a posted 30 mph turn. The car crossed over the center line, Martinez lost control and went off the road, documents said.
Passenger Raul Gutierrez was hurt when the car rolled. His injuries included broken bones in the lower part of his left leg and in his little finger on the right hand, court documents said.
Martinez also was injured.
Documents say the teen had a blood-alcohol level at the time of 0.053 percent.
Martinez said he has not yet received notification from the state that his license is suspended as a result of the wreck.
Judge Craig Matheson told Martinez he is not to drive without a valid license or consume alcohol while the case is pending.
