Street access to the rear entrance of Marcus Whitman Elementary School in Richland will be blocked by demolition work on a nearby administration building Monday.
Demolition of the district's old special programs building on Snow Avenue will start that day, said Mark Panther, director of support services.
The work will close down car and walking access to the elementary school's rear entrance, which many parents use as a drop-off point for students.
Students should stay on sidewalks and avoid the parking lot, Panther said.
The parking lot should re-open within the week, he said.
