WALLA WALLA -- The $2.2 million project to improve Reser Road from Howard to Fern streets is nearing completion, so the road south of Walla Walla High was scheduled to re-open Friday for public use.
Culbert Construction began construction Aug. 9. The Pasco company finished on budget and on schedule, said Aaron Grimm, Walla Walla County project engineer.
The Reser Road project included widening, sidewalks, improved school zone safety signage, a new Yellowhawk Creek bridge, bike lanes, additional parking, a new crosswalk at Costello Street and street lighting at the three main intersections.
The project received a Safe Routes to School grant of $330,000 to enhance school zone safety awareness and allow for additional law enforcement.
