WALLA WALLA -- The state Department of Veteran Affairs will ask the 2012 Legislature for $10 million to help build a nursing home for veterans at Walla Walla.
Most of the rest of the $35 million cost would come from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, if state funding is approved.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reported the long-term care home would be built at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center. The home would be run by the state with 93 jobs.
The state already operates veterans homes at Retsil, Orting and Spokane.
