Students at Kennewick High School were in for a surprise during their bathroom breaks Wednesday — fisheyes stared back at them from the bowls’ murky waters.
A student had released eight or nine wild-caught fish into toilet bowls at the school, said district spokeswoman Lorraine Cooper. The finned foundlings ranged from baby catfish to a 9-incher of unidentified species.
Some of the fish were found belly-up in urinals. Being out of water, they didn’t survive the unsanitary prank. But more than half of the fish were rescued alive. They now live in the school’s pond.
The unnamed student was disciplined, Cooper said.
