A motorist who slowed down for an emergency vehicle on Highway 12 near Burbank was hurt Monday afternoon when a semi-truck hit him from behind.
Paul Dwight Halsey, 66, of Kennewick, was headed west on the highway at Humorist Road when he yielded for the emergency vehicle in the intersection, said the Washington State Patrol.
That's when his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was rear-ended by a 1995 Peterbilt semi-truck, driven by Kenneth McCarty.
Both men were wearing seat belts in the 4:28 p.m. crash. Halsey was treated at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco, while McCarty, 61, of East Wenatchee, was not hurt.
Troopers are blaming the crash on McCarty's inattention and speeding.
