A young Kennewick woman is planning a trip to Haiti this summer to help the orphans living in an earthquake-ravaged town of Port-au-Prince. But to get there she needs help.
Bethany Allen, 19, visited the country a few months before the devastating quake hit on Jan. 12, 2010. Now she's raising money so she can return in June to work as a volunteer for two months for the Foundation for Children in Need.
The nonprofit volunteer program run by Rebecca Maesato oversees three orphanages, a street home for homeless boys, a medical clinic and various other ministries.
Allen is holding a car wash from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Tesoro gas station, 2601 Court St., Pasco. There will be food and beverages compliments of the station.
Never miss a local story.
Allen needs to raise $2,800 by the end of May. To make a donation, send a check to: Bethany Allen, 833 S. Hawthorne St., Kennewick, WA 99336. Or call Allen call at 947-6055 or email her at moto_freek12@yahoo. com.
