KENNEWICK -- A 21-year-old Pasco man died late Saturday when the car he was in crossed over Interstate 82 and rolled.
Michael A. Hernandez was one of four men inside the 1994 Honda Accord when it crashed at 10:29 p.m. east of Kennewick.
The Washington State Patrol reported that Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt in the crash.
According to the report, the Honda driven by Favian Castro was heading east on I-82 when it crossed the center median into the westbound lanes and rolled. The Honda came to a stop on the right shoulder, three miles east of Kennewick near Locust Grove Road.
Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision, but report that alcohol or drugs were involved.
Castro, 21, of Pasco was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment. He was in satisfactory condition as of Sunday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Castro and passenger Jose E. Carcamo were wearing seat belts. Carcamo, 23, of Pasco reportedly refused treatment at the scene.
Passenger Lucio M. Mendoza, 22, of Pasco, was taken to Kennewick General Hospital and is listed in good condition. He wasn't wearing a seat belt, according to the state patrol.
