The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Tri-Cities and much of the Mid-Columbia from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today.
Winds are expected to increase by late morning with the strongest winds expected late afternoon through early evening. In the Tri-Cities, winds of 15 to 18 mph are expected to increase to 27 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.
Temperatures should warm Thursday and Friday, with highs in the Tri-Cities just below 70 Thursday and reaching the 70s Friday, according to the weather service.
Warmer weather in the region will contribute to snow melt and runoff, and streams and rivers are expected to rise. The Yakima River at Kiona is predicted to rise almost three feet to 9.5 feet by late Saturday afternoon and then start to fall Sunday. Flood stage is 13 feet.
