WEST RICHLAND -- Two Benton County sheriff's deputies escaped major injuries when their patrol car crashed into a telephone pole early Saturday while responding to a "high-risk" call.
The deputies, who were not named, were treated and released from Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, said sheriff's Detective Erik Magnuson.
The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Van Giesen Street in West Richland.
The deputies were on their way to Benton City to help another deputy who was conducting a high-risk traffic stop, Magnuson said.
Never miss a local story.
The deputies were driving west on Van Giesen Street and just passed Grosscup Boulevard when they lost control of the patrol car, he said.
The cruiser spun off the road and struck a telephone pole. The Washington State Patrol is investigating the crash, Magnuson said.
