A 48-year-old Quincy woman was struck and killed by a freight train Sunday near Quincy.
Pricilia Orta-Menzez was hit by an eastbound Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train, said Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison. It happened near the 400 block of Division East.
Orta-Menzez died from blunt impact to her head and torso, Morrison said. The death is under investigation.
Accused child molester arrested in Kennewick
A 25-year-old Kennewick man was arrested early Monday after allegedly molesting a young girl.
The girl's father told police he saw Gregorio Alaniz put his hand down the girl's pants and confronted him, said Kennewick police spokesman Mike Blatman. Police arrested Alaniz a short time later.
He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of child molestation.
Eltopia rollover wreck on Highway 395 hurts 3
Three people were injured in a rollover crash Saturday near Eltopia.
Jonathan Matavaca of Connell was driving south on Highway 395 about three miles north of Eltopia at 10:20 p.m. when his 1992 Honda Accord ran off the roadway and rolled, coming to rest upside-down.
Matavaca, 21, and his three passengers were not wearing seat belts, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Tracey A. Bobadilla, 19, of Milton-Freewater, and Dulce Esparanza Bobadilla, 2, of Connell, were treated at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.
Matavaca was taken to Pasco's Lourdes Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. A third passenger, Ana L. Herrera, 22, of College Place, was not injured.
The WSP said drugs or alcohol were involved and the crash remains under investigation.
Driver who fell asleep receives minor injuries
A Walla Walla man suffered minor injuries after he fell asleep at the wheel and drove into a ravine near Wallula Junction, the Washington State Patrol said.
Miguel Angel Castillo, 23, was driving westbound on Highway 12 in a 2008 Ford Mustang when he fell asleep, drove off the westbound shoulder and traveled about 500 feet before stopping in a 10-foot deep ravine, troopers said.
The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. Sunday, about three miles east of Wallula Junction.
Castillo was treated for minor injuries at St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla.
