West Richland City Council members met Monday to discuss the seven points in their five-year plan to help define their objectives, goals and tasks.
The council gave the amended goal statement back to Mayor Donna Noski to share with her staff. They will rewrite the statement, adding the changes made by the council during the workshop.
The seven points are:
-- Community economic vitality, competitiveness and diversity.
-- Quality and adequate infrastructures and facilities.
-- Financial and operational effectiveness, stability and accountability.
-- Recreational, cultural and educational community amenities.
-- Housing and neighborhoods.
-- Smart growth planning.
-- A healthy and safe city.
After the statement is adopted, council members will use it to identify the city's goals and help guide growth in coming years. City staff will use those goals to help draft the 2012 and future budgets.
