KENNEWICK -- Kennewick Police arrested two Kennewick men for allegedly stealing items from vehicles Sunday morning.
A Tri-City Herald employee was delivering papers on the 1100 block of West 17th Place in Kennewick about 5:30 a.m. when he noticed two men in a car that looked suspicious.
The two men left the car door open and started to run when they saw the paper carrier, who then called police, said Kennewick Police Cpl. Matt Newton.
Police officers were in the area within minutes and found two men hiding in bushes, Newton said.

Randy Thompson, 22, and Taylor Smith, 22, were arrested in connection with several counts of vehicle prowl, a misdemeanor, he said. They were booked into the Benton County jail Sunday morning.
Police found items believed stolen from at least six cars in backpacks the men were carrying, Newton said.
The case still is under investigation, and police are continuing to identify the victims, he said. Those who might have witnessed the thefts should call police at 628-0333.
Newton said people should lock their vehicles and park them in a well-lit area to help avoid vehicle prowls. It appears most of the cars that were stolen from in this case were unlocked, he said.
Also, people should not leave valuables visible or accessible in vehicles, he said.
