All 2,548 seats available for Hanford nuclear reservation tours in 2011 have been claimed, most of them by night owls.
Registration opened on the internet at a minute after midnight Tuesday and within the first hour, 1,800 seats were claimed, according to the Department of Energy. All seats were filled by 8:04 a.m.
The five-hour tours cover the history of Hanford, including a look inside B Reactor, and current environmental cleanup.
If you still are looking for a seat, check the registration site occasionally, particularly in the week before tour dates. As people cancel seats, openings will be posted.
In addition, tours that go just to historic B Reactor also have been scheduled for 2011. Registration for those tours opens at 12:01 a.m. March 15. Go to hanford.gov and look under "Quick links" for "Hanford Tours" to check for tour seats that reopen for the Hanford sitewide tours or to register next week for the B Reactor-only tours.
