A new nonprofit promoting technology education in Washington made its first donation Monday of $2.4 million.
The money from Washington STEM goes to 15 teachers, schools and education nonprofits in the state, including Finley Elementary School and the TechREACH program at Ochoa Middle School in Pasco.
The program at Ochoa is a summer course aimed at getting more girls involved in science and technology. It will get $23,000.
Finley will get $9,000 to train more elementary teachers in science and technology.
Washington STEM aims to raise $100 million in the next 10 years to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
