The three Soroptimist International clubs in the Tri-Cities will hold their annual joint awards banquet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church of Kennewick at 19th Avenue and Olympia Street.
More than $17,000 in scholarships and awards will be given to 16 Mid-Columbia students. This is the third year that the three clubs, Soroptimist International of Mid-Columbia, Soroptimist International of Pasco-Kennewick, and Soroptimist International of Three Rivers have held a joint banquet.
-- The Violet Richardson award went to Elizabeth Page for her work on the Crow Indian Reservation; Hailey Ann Butler for work with Special Olympics; and Tasha Talbot for involvement with her school's Key Club.

-- The Women's Opportunity Award went to Misty Winston, a nursing student at Blue Mountain Community College; Lori Lazor, social sciences major at WSU Tri-Cities; Angie Asbell, a student at Claire's Beauty College; Darcy Pierce, a dental hygiene student; and Candice Tschauner, a former Marine attending WSU in business administration.
-- Fellowship Awards went to Carla May, who is working toward a master's degree in nursing; Lindsay Ellen Mahony, an MBA student at WSU Tri-Cities; and Zandra Melchor, a graduate physician's assistant student at University of Washington.
-- Ruby Awards went to Rachael Tengbom, founder of Voices of Hope, and Cheri Manley, a Kennewick businesswoman behind the Women's Expo.
-- The Professional/Technical Awards went to Kendra Allbee, a dental hygiene major at Eastern Washington University, first place; and Maria Brenda Rodriguez, a nursing student at CBC, second place.
-- The Helen Cox Award went to Kayla Winters, a business student with University of Phoenix.
