BOARDMAN -- Christy Sweet, curator of the Kam Wah Chung State Heritage Site in John Day, will bring a variety of artifacts, displays and stories to the Morrow County Historical Society annual meeting Sunday.
The meeting will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Boardman Senior Center, 100 Tatone St., and begins with a potluck lunch. The free program featuring Sweet begins at 2:30 p.m.
The Kam Wah Chung Company was a a social and supply center serving the Chinese community, which numbered as many as 30,000.
The Chinese labored in gold mines, helped build railroads, contributed to commerce and played a significant role in the development of Eastern Oregon.
