Underprivileged kids in Kennewick once again will get a chance to shop for Christmas gifts with Kennewick police officers thanks to Walmart.
The retail giant's Kennewick store donated $1,000 to support the Kennewick Police Department's annual "Shop with a Cop" program, Sgt. Ken Lattin said.
Each year children in need are selected to shop with a law enforcement officer at Walmart with a prepaid debit card. The kids typically buy gifts for their parents, grandparents and siblings and sometimes get to pick out something special for themselves.
"This has been a very rewarding program over the years and we are pleased that it will continue with the support of our local Walmart store," Lattin said.
