When you hear the thunder on Bombing Range Road in West Richland today, keep your eyes on the horizon, not the sky.
An estimated 4,000 motorcyclists are expected to cruise through town from 4 to 9 p.m. for the 10th annual Hogs & Dogs event.
In all about 10,000 people are expected to attend, many of them just to see the gleaming bikes.
Admission is free. Hot dogs, chips and a drink will be on sale for $5. And area favorites IV, an alternative rock band, and R&B guitarist Wayman Chapman will perform in the beer garden.
Drivers are being warned to expect traffic congestion and delays on Bombing Range between Paradise Way and Keene Road near the Bombing Range Road Sports Complex.
Some other West Richland streets will be closed to traffic from noon to 10 p.m., including Holly Way between Bombing Range Road and Iris Street; Northlake Drive at the intersection of Bombing Range Road; and Victoria and Sunglow courts.
Detours will be in place. Limited access to residents of Victoria and Sunglow courts will be available.
Area residents not attending Hogs & Dogs are encouraged instead to avoid Bombing Range Road and use Paradise Way, South Highlands and Belmont boulevards and Keene Road.
Motorcyclists enter via the north end of the Sports Complex's parking lot that fronts Bombing Range Road.
Parking is limited so a free shuttle bus service is available from 3:30 to 10 p.m. for those who park their cars at Enterprise Middle School or Wiley Elementary.
Limited general parking will be available in the back parking lot that can be accessed only off of Mount Adams View Drive behind the fire station.
Limited handicap parking will be available in a lot that fronts Bombing Range Road. Access to the handicap parking will be available at the north end -- the same entrance as for the motorcycles.
A Show & Shine also is planned. The entry fee is $10. Tickets will be sold for $10 for a drawing for a Victory Vegas 8 Ball motorcycle. The winning ticket will be drawn about 9 p.m.
