Expect delays and detours this weekend at the Queensgate interchange at Interstate 182 in Richland.
And the Steptoe Street roundabout will be part of that detour.
The eastbound on-ramp from Queensgate to the highway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday morning.
Signs and message boards will be in place to direct traffic to the detour onto Columbia Park Trail then east to Steptoe and onto Highway 240, state officials said.
Traffic will be flagged though the intersection of Queensgate and I-182.
Two roundabouts are under construction at the I-182 on- and off-ramps to Queensgate Drive.
The project includes roundabouts at the intersections with Interstate 182 and Columbia Park Trail, along with widening a section of the road and extending bike lanes along Queensgate, Richland officials said.
The project is aimed at cutting down congestion.
The $5 million package of improvements is a combined project by the city of Richland and the Washington State Department of Transportation.
It is being funded by a $1.8 million grant from the Rural County Capital Fund along $2.4 million in federal surface transportation funds and $500,000 in city money.
Access to businesses along Queensgate from Keene to Columbia Park Trail will remain open.
