A driver tried to make a U-turn on Highway 397, about four miles east of Kennewick, and was struck by a car going the same direction.
Casey J. Childers, 19, of Kennewick, was injured when the maroon 1999 Mercedes 280 sedan was struck at about 8:43 p.m. on Friday. She was taken to Trios Health hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Childers was reportedly making a U-turn from the southbound lane when her vehicle was struck by a blue 2013 Dodge Dart sedan driving south.
Stacy M. Kulm, 38, of Kennewick, was driving the Dodge. She was not injured.
The state patrol reports the cause of the collision is under investigation.
