A man running from police abandoned a car without putting it in park, leaving it to roll into a Kennewick police car Wednesday night.
Colt Maurer, 24, of Finley, was arrested for attempting to elude police and possession of a stolen car, said Sgt. Kent Lattin.
The blue 1997 Mazda Protégé was left running at a Circle K by the owner when Maurer allegedly got into the sedan and drove off.
Police claim they followed him for several blocks before trying to stop him.
Maurer eventually hit a concrete curb at the intersection of South Garfield Street and West Fourth Avenue, abandoned the car and ran until police caught him, said Lattin.
But Maurer left the car in drive and it slowly rolled forward, denting the front fender of a patrol car.
