The body of Mountain View Fire and Rescue firefighter Fred Ward was found Oct. 22 at the Wild Horse Monument near George.
The 43-year-old Renton resident was driving to Spokane and last seen in Roslyn before he was determined to be missing. A statewide search was conducted and a man “scouting” for deer found Ward’s body.
“Ward was a short distance from his vehicle which was parked near the monument,” stated the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison is conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death.

“There is no indication of foul play,” stated sheriff’s office spokesman Kyle Foreman.
