An oncology certified nurse practitioner from Columbia Basin Hematology & Oncology, or CBHO, in Kennewick has earned an advanced certified hospice and palliative nurse credential, a news release said.
Lynne Allen was certified by The National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses, the release said.
"This certification highlights the expertise of Lynne Allen and is a testament to the quality of the community palliative care program we are partnering to grow.
Through our Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) network affiliation, we will be working closely with CBHO to provide the highest levels of palliative care to our community. Lynne is a driving force behind the creation of this community program involving the Tri-Cities Cancer Center and CBHO, along with physicians and other health care providers throughout our region," said Michele Caron, clinical services director for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, in the release.
The cancer center shares a campus with CBHO.
Allen said in the release that, "the ... efforts of CBHO and the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, coupled with our ability to consult with SCCA physicians on complicated cases and program development, puts our collaborative program at the forefront of palliative care. We are also working with area physicians and other regional health care providers to further develop this cohesive community program, providing great benefit to all in need of palliative care."
