Kadlec’s new standalone emergency department in Kennewick saw more than 30 patients a day on average during its first week.
It opened June 3.
During the first week, staff treated patients for a range of issues, from broken limbs to chest pain and breathing problems, said Carla May, manager.
“The initial thought was that we might see more urgent care-type cases. But it’s been ER visits,” with some patients admitted to area hospitals for more care every day, she said. When it comes to turnaround time, the department has met its goal of getting patients back out the door within 90 minutes, May said. The average has been about 85 minutes, she said.
