An oil change shop with locations throughout the Northwest is opening its first Tri-City store.
Oil Can Henry’s is building the quick lube facility at 25 Columbia Point Drive in the WinCo shopping center parking lot, Richland Development Services Manager Rick Simon said. The 2,550-square-foot building has a listed cost of $350,000.
The WinCo parking lot has three standalone restaurants and two small strip shopping centers, along with the larger structure that features the grocery store, a Dollar Tree and a Big 5 Sporting Goods.
The lot is filling up, but Simon said Oil Can Henry’s meets the city’s minimum parking requirements, so it was able to get a building permit.
Tualatin, Ore.-based Oil Can Henry’s has locations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Colorado and Arizona, according to its website. But the privately owned chain’s closest location to the Tri-Cities is College Place.
Oil Can Henry’s was started in 1978 and features a 20-point full-service oil change, the website said. Its CastrolCam video system allows customers to sit in their vehicle and watch the service being performed under the hood and under the vehicle.
