Kennewick’s Columbia Drive is getting a new Bush Car Wash this summer.
Owner Tim Bush recently received a building permit for the new, $1.5-million commercial car wash at 520 W. Columbia Dr.
The 5,800-square-foot car wash will be the company’s first in Kennewick. Bush has two commercial car washes in Pasco and one in Richland.
And the Columbia Drive car wash also will house the corporate office for his car wash company, said Bush, who recently sold his BMW car dealership in Richland.
Bush said he decided to have his headquarters in downtown Kennewick because he liked the location and the view of the Columbia River.
The Kennewick outlet will be able to wash more cars in one hour than Bush’s other car washes. At 163-feet-long, the wash can fit up to 10 cars at a time, Bush said.
“You can get a really good amazing car wash for $7 in about three minutes,” he said.
The $7 includes tax. Other options, such as waxing and detailing, are available.
Bush Car Wash employs more than 35 people now, and Bush estimates he will need closer to 50 once the Columbia Drive wash opens by mid- to late-August.
Each of the car washes donates to various causes. Bush operates the washes in honor of his brother, Ned Gosnell, who died from brain cancer. He credits Gosnell for coming up with the idea for a premium car wash facility.
