Small farmers and ranchers with a gross annual income between $2,000 to 250,000 in agricultural products in the Yakima area are being sought to help Washington State University researchers answer the question, “What Do You Know About Environmental Health Terms and Risks?”
Nursing researchers at WSU College of Nursing, in collaboration with WSU Extension faculty, are sponsoring focus groups to learn how people with different traditions understand and use health terms about the environment and health risks. Those who are over 18 years old and a member of a family who owns a small farm in or near Yakima County are invited to join a small group of similar people for about an hour-long conversation.
Groups will be held throughout January. Locations have yet to be determined. Six to 10 people will be invited, so those interested should sign up as soon as possible.
Results will help to develop environmental risk messages that are better understood by different groups of people. Food and beverages will be served at the scheduled focus group sessions, and each participant will receive a $20 gift card for participation.
Never miss a local story.
