Two potential pot shops eye Walla Walla
A second recreational marijuana retailer is looking to set up shop in Walla Walla.
Green Leaf Ventures on Dec. 4 filed an application with the state Liquor Control Board to operate a marijuana retail store in the city. Walla Walla has 20 days from the date of the application to approve or reject the shop’s proposed site at 1390 W. Pine St., said Walla Walla Development Services Director Elizabeth Chamberlain.
City staff have determined that the applicant, Jesse Gesler of Walla Walla, and the proposed location appear to comply with the city’s permanent zoning regulations.
Never miss a local story.
A second group, Tangletown Holdings, applied Nov. 24 with the state Liquor Control Board to operate a recreational marijuana shop in Walla Walla. Tangletown is eying a location at 927 W. Main St.
With the two applications, Walla Walla has reached its maximum marijuana retail licenses allowed by city code.
Chamberlain said the next step for both groups is to file for a conditional use permit with the city. She said those conditional use permits could come before the city’s hearing examiner for a public review during the first quarter of next year.
