A trucking company will be laying off 180 workers at its facility on Dietrich Road in northeast Pasco, according to the state.
Swift Transportation Co. has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice with the state Employment Security Department, the department said Monday. The layoffs are expected to go into effect Jan. 30.
The notices are required to protect workers in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs by giving them 60 days notification, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Phoenix-based Swift is the largest truckload motor carrier in the world, according to its website. It generates over $3.4 billion in revenue and operates more than 16,000 trucks.

Swift has acquired acquired 11 different trucking companies since 1988, including Utah-based Central Refrigerated Service in 2013.
Swift officials could not be reached for comment Monday.
