The 41st Annual Hermiston Farm Fair is Dec. 3-5 at the Hermiston Conference Center, 415 S. Highway 395.
The agricultural forum features seminars and a trade show with local agricultural businesses. It’s co-sponsored by the Oregon State University Extension Service, the Agriculture Committee and the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.
Topics include protecting pollinators, pest management, the new Yukon Nugget and Terra Rosa potatoes released by OSU and biennial canola.
New this year is a workshop covering the benefits and challenges of high residue farming, residue management, direct seeding and strip-tillage. The workshop led by Andy McGuire, the Irrigated Cropping Systems agronomist with the Columbia Basin Washington State University Extension, is limited to 20. Cost is $15 for that workshop. Other sessions are free. Also, Oregon, Washington and Idaho pesticide recertification credits will be available.
The Hermiston Farm Fair Banquet is 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at John and Marge Walchli’s banquet room, 79937 S. Edwards Road. The banquet starts with a social hour followed by dinner. Tickets are available from the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce at $25 per person.
