A groundbreaking event for the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center in Hermiston is set for 11 a.m. Dec. 4.
The groundbreaking will be held at 1510 South Ott Road. The multi-facility complex is expected to cost about $11 million and be complete by the summer of 2016. The site is about 90 acres.
The trade and event center will replace a county fair facility and Farm City Pro Rodeo facility, said Ed Brookshier, chairman of the Eastern Oregon Trade Center Board. The old facility was sold to the school district.
The new trade and event center is being financed by an Oregon Lottery grant, smaller state and federal grants and proceeds from the sale of the existing site to the school district.
