Walla Walla Valley wineries and businesses are raising donations for the Blue Mountain Action Council’s Walla Walla Food Bank through a Barrel Full of Money.
This goal is to raise $20,000 through donation canisters at Walla Walla Valley wineries and businesses through Dec. 15. Donations go directly to buying food for hungry families in Walla Walla County.
The fundraiser is being kicked off 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Olive Marketplace & Café with light appetizers and a casual wine tasting. Glasses of wine and food will be available to buy with all proceeds donated to the food bank.
The fundraiser is an effort by Alaska Airlines, Baker Boyer Bank, Columbia REA, Downtown Walla Walla Foundation members, the Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center, Olive Marketplace & Café, Capps Broadcast Group and the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance.
Two full-sized wine barrels for donations will be at Olive Marketplace & Café and at a mobile location. Olive Café will also host a silent auction.
A raffle to raise money will feature two round-trip airline tickets donated by Alaska Airlines as the top prize. The second prize is a one-night stay at Walla Walla’s Marcus Whitman Hotel and dinner for two at The Marc Restaurant.
Raffle tickets, at $10 each, and will be available at Olive Marketplace & Café and by calling the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance at 509-526-3117 until 5 p.m. Dec. 17. The drawing will occur Dec. 18.
